WeDrop.org

WeDrop.org offers agencies, PACS, NGOs, and other entities a pro bono method of setting up a custom, secure, private whistleblower server.

Running a credible whistleblower server and protecting your sources does not have to be a costly undertaking which requires major hardware and extensive staff commitments. In lieu of committing 5 servers and commensurate staff to SecureDrop instances (which we do deploy and support for those who really need it and can afford all the hardware) you can also employ more manageable solutions to keep your reporting sources safe, but can be run with one person. We will even train you.

Beware dangerous whistleblower solutions like the one at the US Senate which invites a prudent and wary source to pass by because anonymity is not allowed. Get the facts first, while helping your sources feel (and be) safe. The whistleblower resource linked above makes a privacy and security oriented source feel as if using that reporting tool would place their feet firmly on a direct path to investigation and indictment.

Most good whistleblower services are on the ‘dark web’.

If you are visiting us in your Tor Browser (as we hope you are) then this link will take you to our demo Globaleaks server (link will not work in ordinary browsers, only Tor)

About the ‘dark web’ many estimates suggest that SecureDrop Servers, Globaleaks servers and other anonymity-based reporting systems exist on the dark web far in excess to SilkRoad and other criminal organizations. It’s a major reason word eventually gets out about human rights abuses happening in oppressive, tyrannical countries. Sources need to be kept safe, even from their own governments that posess formidable forensics resources. The same technology can work for your reporting operation.

Leaving an indelible mark on the landscape of tomorrow.

Regardless of what you try to do with anonymous reporting on the ‘net, you will need Tor to set up, administer and receive whistleblower reports. So you should probably go ahead and get it now.

You can get Tor from a link further down this page and it installs quickly & easily. Then come back here and click the copy icon above to get the service address for our secure Tor demo server. It’s a technology demonstrator – not a real whistleblowing reporting resource. But you’ll get the idea.

You should have a look!

With meticulous attention to detail and a commitment to excellence, we create spaces that inspire, elevate, and enrich the lives of those who inhabit safe, anonymous reporting spaces on the internet.

We currently have two reporting solutions to suggest for varying needs… for privacy, ease of use, and safety for your sources.

We do not use any solutions that are not fully Open Source.

SecureDrop
CVE Reports: 3
SecureDrop is regarded as the gold standard for secure whistleblower solutions. To achieve this gold standard takes a considerable dedication of resources from you. Although we will install software, configure and train, we cannot pay for the five computers required to deploy a SecureDrop implementation. SecureDrop’s secure position at the top of the heap also makes it an attractive target for attackers, and it has a large attack surface (5 computers) so in spite of the 3 vulnerabilities (resolved) found in the Common Vulnerabilities (CVE) database, it’s still the most secure option out there. You will need at least 3-5 highly trained people, 1 or 2 full-time, to credibly operate a SecureDrop instance.

Globaleaks
CVE Reports: 0
Globaleaks is a lightweight solution that can almost be deployed the same day you discover that you may have a whistleblower prepared to talk to you. In some cases, it does get deployed the same day! Globaleaks can be operated and maintained by a single well-trained person part-time. You can place your Globaleaks instance in the cloud on a rented server for as little as $12/month (what we pay for our own instance!). You do not need an array of computers located on your own premises (as required for SecureDrop) in order to deploy Globaleaks. If you need to know more about preparing, you can consult the excellent writeups at Tor Project, at SecureDrop, and at Globaleaks for excellent tutorials that will get you thinking like an advanced safety and anonymity advocate.

First Step in Consideration…

You should install the Tor Browser from the Tor Project. You can’t do anything to explore, operate, administer or take reports on a whistleblower server without a Tor Browser on your own desktop! Then you can return to this page with Tor and follow this link to our Globaleaks technology demonstrator (link will not work in a non-Tor browser). Experience the fusion of imagination and expertise with solid prep to get ready for your whisltblower deployment—a catalyst for architectural transformations that enrich the world of facts, truth, and human rights around us.
